Conveyor car washes, also known as tunnel car washes, are the most common form of car washing, accounting for an expected 53.8% of total industry sales in 20167 In a conveyer wash, a vehicle is typically driven onto a conveyor belt and taken through a tunnel that uses mechanized brushes and cloths along with a high pressure water application and drying system. Customers have the option of purchasing a range of services. Basic packages include express washes, while premium packages include wheel and rim cleaning, undercarriage washes and automatic vehicle waxes. Demand for this segment has increased over the past five years, as rising per capita income levels have enabled consumers to spend more freely on nondiscretionary services like car washes.
